The finished repairs at Joint Base Andrews

ENVECO recently constructed a sheet pile wall and bioretention pond at Joint Base Andrews, Maryland. ENVECO also prepared the subgrade for several areas where concrete pads were being poured for fueling infrastructure. The sheet pile wall replaced a failing concrete block retaining wall supporting a fuel truck access road. The wall was undermined by borrowing animals, resulting in collapse of the asphalt roadway. The road was situated between the retaining wall and berm of a bulk fuel storage tank. The work was performed for KNK Engineering Consulting Corporation (KNK) in support of the design build project for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District. Site conditions experienced during construction presented major challenges requiring rapid modification of wall design in the field. ENVECO’s staff contributed to solving problems and developing solutions that could be approved and implemented quickly, with minimal disruption to the project schedule. The efforts of the KNK/ENVECO team ensured that the project was successfully completed with final construction exceeding USACE expectations.
